A lifelong resident of Milan, I am the oldest child of seven born to the late Robert and Helen Anders Taylor. Being a useful servant to my fellow citizens and the community was instilled into me at any early age by my parents, as well as benevolence being taught and learned by being a member of the Front Street Church of Christ congregation.
An enjoyable and rewarding experience of being a Milan Hospital Volunteer helped me to become interested in skills essential to patient care. Thus, I studied the nursing curriculums at Jackson State Community College and Union University.
As a parent of three children, volunteering for various school, sports and extracurricular events was only second nature. This afforded me recognition by the Milan basketball team with the “Most Valuable Fan Award”, for dedicated support to their program.
I have served on or presently serve on the One Table Milan committee, PreK community committee, Milan Special School District community committee, Polk Clark Gymnasium Renovation community advisory committee, Gibson County Health Council member, Chamber of Commerce board member, Gibson County Training School/Polk Clark High School Alumni Association member, Sports Plus Fitness committee, Milan Bicycle Awareness committee and Polk Clark Enrichment Center Program Director.
During my 16 years as a volunteer Program Director at the Polk Clark Enrichment Center, I have strived to partner with other agencies and organizations, present workshops, programs and awareness seminars that will benefit all age groups. The building and grounds are used regularly for various community needs. My support and service to worthwhile endeavors are geared toward improving the quality of life for each resident and providing a strong foundation for the future of the Milan community.
